Looking back, if you would have told me my first day at Cornell that I would become a naturopathic doctor with holistic medical clinics serving patients in Central, NY and Northern PA, I probably would have laughed hysterically. While there was no doubt in my mind that I had a passion for science and medicine, I would spend several years researching plant molecular biology before attending naturopathic medical school.
So how exactly did I go from studying plants to helping people? Excellent question! Over the years, I developed a deep appreciation for combining plant science, the environment, and alternative healing all fueling me to not only complete my doctorate from the Natural Medicine in Portland, OR but also finish a 1-year specialized internship in cardiac and pulmonary medicine. The rest is pretty much history!
In 2005 I officially opened my doors and have been helping hundreds of men, women, and children live happier and healthier lives through personalized holistic healing plans ever since.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Imagine a world where the focus of health care is on preventing diseases, instead of managing the symptoms. Well, what if I told you there was a way we could work with your body, by empowering you with the tools and education you need to naturally promote healing and regeneration? Sounds incredible, right? That’s essentially the goal of naturopathic medicine!
Naturopathic medicine combines centuries-old healing therapies, along with the latest advances in medicine, to restore and optimize health. For all of my football fans, I like to say naturopathic medicine combines the best of both worlds; like having both an incredible defensive line AND offensive line but for your body.
For instance, your treatment plan could include a synthesis of healing herbs and hydrotherapy to rebuild your body’s natural defenses along with exercise and stress management to treat the root cause of your illness. Many of our new clients find our approach to health care is far more comprehensive than anything they’ve ever experienced!
In fact, I like to tell our new patients that naturopathic doctors are much more like “healing partners” or “health coaches” along with being an exceptional primary care physician for several adults and children.
How Does it Work?
The first step is calling or emailing our naturopathic office that serves Endicott, Binghamton, Elmira, Cortland, Syracuse and surrounding areas to book an in-person appointment or a phone consultation/skype session if you live out of town. We’ll sit down together for about an hour so I can get a complete picture of what we like to call your “health story.” I want to know everything! Your personal and family medical history, any recent lab reports, diet changes, medications and/or supplements, you name it!
My goal is to create a personalized holistic health plan just for you because every client is unique! Generally speaking, a rock-solid health plan can include everything from dietary guidelines, lifestyle recommendations, herbal therapies, nutritional supplements, hydrotherapy, homeopathic remedies, and other natural therapies.
What are the Most Popular Holistic Services?
The holidays are filled with opportunities to share laughs with good friends and good food. The New Year is the perfect time for many of our clients to try out our “Detoxification Program.” Call or email our holistic health clinic in Endicott to set up your appointment to discuss our comprehensive cleansing program to clear unhealthy toxins and enter the New Year with a clean slate. It’s a 14-day cleanse that improves your overall health and gives you an extra boost of energy and vitality by resting and detoxifying your liver.
Many of our clients have had a lifelong battle with shedding extra pounds. If you’re sick and tired of fad diets that just don’t work, call our health clinic in Endicott and ask about our “Weight Loss Program.” No gimmicks. Just results! Before creating a personalized dietary plan, I’ll sit down with you so we can conduct a bio-impedance analysis or “BIA.” It’s a remarkable approach to weight loss in which we use a non-invasive in-office exam to evaluate your body composition and your metabolic status. We’ll get a clear picture of your fat, muscle, and water mass which are all critical components to consider when building an effective weight loss plan. I’ll create a personalized dietary plan to help you not only reach your weight loss goals but keep you on track using a combination of nutritional supplements, when appropriate, and exercise.
